Seabed services

We provide comprehensive integrated solutions for both exploration projects and Life-of-Field reservoir monitoring projects. We can offer the complete range of seabed seismic services, from planning and design, through supply and installation of equipment to acquisition, processing and reservoir characterization.

These services include:

  • Retrievable Ocean Bottom-Cable (OBC) for multi-component (4C) shear-wave seabed exploration, using either Searay cables (to 300m) or OYO deep water cables up to 3000m.
  • Fibre optic Permanent OBC for 'life-of-field' seismic reservoir monitoring.
  • Node Acquisition for wide-azimuth illumination and infill/undershoot projects.

Seabed Acquisition Benefits

Seabed exploration offers advantages both where multicomponent data is required for imaging in complex areas, such as below gas clouds or extremely hard waterbottoms, and also where the waters are too congested or too sensitive for towed streamer acquisition.

Safer

  • Working around and beneath surface and subsea infrastructure for improved survey coverage, without the need for close approaches when towing streamers
  • Better images reduce exploration and development risks

Quieter

  • Improved data quality from significant noise reduction on the seafloor
  • Trenched cables provide even greater noise reduction

Better

  • Ability to acquire data at all azimuths with even larger offsets, improving illumination
  • Recording multicomponent data utilizing geophone sensors in addition to hydrophones providing:
          • PZ summation for better multiple attenuation
          • Imaging through gas-bearing zones
          • Fracture density and orientation mapping
          • Direct indication of hydrocarbons and lithology
          • Quantification of saturation and pressure changes
          • Drilling hazard identification
  • Permanently placing seabed equipment over the field optimizes the repeatability and efficiency of 4D time-lapse surveys, providing improved reservoir monitoring.
  • Once the equipment has been installed, monitor surveys become more economical - generally covering the cost of installation in five years
