The importance of recording the full range of frequencies (low as well as high) is widely accepted for high resolution imaging. High fidelity, low frequency data provides deeper penetration for the clear imaging of deep targets, as well as providing greater stability in inversion.
Broader bandwidths produce sharper wavelets, therefore both low and high frequencies are required for high resolution imaging of important shallow features such as thin beds and small sedimentary traps.

We take a two-sided approach to improving bandwidth. We can actively generate a wider range of frequencies with our seismic sources and we can do our utmost to preserve them during recording and processing.
CGGVeritas has developed a range of broadband technologies across our product lines:
- Land Acquisition - EmphaSeis boosts the low frequencies and delivers either a broad bandwidth or a customer-defined spectrum. Mega channel counts, point sources and point receivers provide denser sampling, improving noise attenuation and reduced acquisition footprint.
- Marine Acquisition - BroadSeis delivers the sharpest wavelet and the best resolving power in the industry as well as the added penetration and imaging power of boosted low frequencies, providing a simple, available and robust solution for broadband marine acquisition.
- Seabed Acquisition - state-of-the-art fibre optic reservoir monitoring and exploration using advanced Searay cables and innovative, efficiently-deployed Trilobit nodes provide integrated broadband seabed solutions.
- Processing and Imaging using advanced algorithms to maximize the spatial and temporal resolution of seismic data, and maintain the full bandwidth while attenuating noise and multiples.
